PORTLAND, Tenn. – Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire in Robertson County Monday evening.

Orlinda Fire Department Fire Chief Patrick Darrow told Smokey Barn News that units responded to a fully involved two-story home in the 6700 block of J.B. Anderson Road.

Fire departments from the region responded to assist, including Franklin-Simpson Fire Rescue. The departments responded with tanker trucks with water.

According to the report, each truck delivered one load of water before pumps, hoses and equipment froze.

Darrow told Smokey Barn News that firefighters’ equipment froze, requiring them to keep moving to prevent further freezing. At one point, crews ran out of usable water.

The home is a total loss.

Two residents escaped the house and were not injured. A family cat is unaccounted for, according to the report.

Darrow says the fire will smolder until hot spots are fully extinguished. The department is waiting for the equipment to thaw.
