BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing several charges related to trafficking in marijuana.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department observed a bicycle traveling on West 12th Avenue toward Clay Street just before midnight on Tuesday that did not have a fixed headlight.

Police say the bicyclist was also traveling on the wrong side of the road.

Officers say they initiated a traffic stop. The male subject was identified as 41-year-old Antonio Stewart of Bowling Green.

Authorities say Stewart appeared to be under the influence of drugs to the point of being a danger to himself.

After authorities say Stewart refused to follow verbal commands or identify himself, Stewart began to resist arrest. Police say a taser was deployed, and Stewart was taken into custody.

During a search of a black duffel bag Stewart was wearing, police say they found 11 plastic bags of marijuana, a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue, marijuana wax, two other pipes, two cell phones and a small laptop.

Officers say they also located a wallet with a Kentucky ID that did not belong to Stewart. Authorities say the wallet has been returned to its owner.

According to the citation, Stewart stated the duffel bag was not his and that he had found it and was trying to return it to its owner.

Stewart remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of resisting arrest, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, trafficking in marijuana (between 8 ounces and 5 pounds), first offense, receiving stolen property, no lights on bicycle, public intoxication – controlled substance (excluded alcohol) and possession of marijuana.
