Romanza Johnson Park set to close due to road damage
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Warren County Parks and Rec announced that Romanza Johnson Park will be closed indefinitely due to the recent weather.
The flooding we’ve seen over the last few months has taken a toll on the access road to the park, which has lead to erosion.
Crews will be working on a new road in partnership with the transportation cabinet and Warren County Emergency Management.
The stretch of water from Romanza Johnson to Phil Moore Park is one of the most used for kayakers in the state of Kentucky, and while there’s no set timeline for when the park will reopen, crews will work as fast as possible to get it done.
“We’ve been working with the federal assets to try to come up with a solution and get that back up as quickly as possible. It’s not going to be a quick fix, but it’s, we’re working hard to get there, but the bureaucracy kind of slows it down,” Ronnie Pearson, the Warren County EM director, says.
