KSP trooper charged with DUI, formerly indicted for unreasonable force

HISEVILLE, Ky. – A Kentucky State Police trooper has been arrested on charges related to driving while under the influence.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police Post 3 responded at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday to Park Methodist Church for a 911 hang-up.
Authorities say there was no answer even after multiple calls back.
Upon arrival, authorities say it was discovered that 28-year-old Jarrod Lewis of Hiseville had been drinking or there was alcohol present.
Troopers say Lewis had a cut on his forehead, and his truck was present in the parking lot. EMS also responded to the scene.
Authorities say the hood of the truck was warm, and the engine had recently been on with keys in the ignition. Troopers say they conducted Standard Field Sobriety Tests and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Lewis’ breath.
Troopers say Lewis’ breath result showed .218.
Troopers say they found an open alcoholic beverage in the truck. According to authorities, Lewis stated he had bought a total of three Twisted Teas and one bottle of Pirate Water.
Lewis was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center. Jail records state he was released on Thursday, May 8.
The uniform citation states Lewis is employed with the Kentucky State Police post in Elizabethtown.
Lewis faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, first offense (aggravated circumstances) and possession of an open alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle prohibited.
According to the United State Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, Lewis was indicted on a charge of using unreasonable force in March.

“As of March 4, trooper Jarrod Lewis was suspended pending legal outcome from a federal indictment. His employment status has not changed.”
