Hart County first responders rescue stranded kayakers

HART COUNTY, Ky. – Emergency personnel rescued kayakers in Hart County on Saturday evening.

According to Hart County Search and Rescue (HCSR), emergency personnel received a report of five stranded kayakers on the Green River at approximately 8 pm.

HCSR says the kayakers “misjudged their time and it got dark before they made their destination.”

Emergency personnel located the kayakers and brought them to safety at approximately midnight Sunday.

Hart Co. Search and Rescue, Hart Co. Emergency Management, Hart Co. Sheriff’s Dept., Horse Cave Police, Munfordville Police, and Hart Co. EMS responded to the scene.

HCSR officials stated, “As always, for outdoor activities, we recommend planning for the unexpected and always carry at least a couple of sources of light, a small first aid kit, something to start a fire, bug repellent, etc. If you find yourself stranded, lost, or need help in any way, call 911, as all emergency responders in Hart County are willing to jump in and help with these situations. Once you make that call for help, stay where you are if possible; it’s much easier to find a person who isn’t moving.”
