Glasgow-Barren County Boys and Girls Club ribbon cutting
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – On Thursday, the Boys and Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren County celebrated its one-year anniversary of moving into their new building on Columbia Avenue.
The community gathered to watch the highly anticipated ribbon cutting, surrounded by several prominent figures in Kentucky including Joe and Kelly Craft, as well as Kentucky men’s basketball head coach Mark Pope and players.
After the ribbon cutting, staff and youth members gave their special guests a tour of all of the exciting opportunities the new innovation center has to offer, including a podcast studio, gaming facilities, a content creation lab and much more.
Growing up just outside of Glasgow, Kelly Craft spoke on her and husband’s passion to stay involved with their communities and shared what she hopes the new building can provide for the kids.
“(I hope) that they have every opportunity afforded to them, and every child that is here will learn a skill and they will leave here having a dream and they can achieve a dream,” Craft said.
As the event’s special guest, Pope shared what a huge role his local boys and girls club played in his childhood, and was thrilled to have been a part of a groundbreaking day in Barren County.
“It’s awesome. This is my first time in Glasgow, and to see the community rally together with the Kraft family and keep building out on this Boys and Girls Club is really special,” Pope said. “It just says so much about the community and how they honor their kids and how they want to grow, and it’s pretty cool. People here are beautiful.”
