Georgia man arrested after wrecking into Franklin home

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Georgia man is facing multiple charges in Simpson County after crashing into a house.

According to the Franklin Police Department, officers responded at 1:42 a.m. Sunday for a potential injury collision in the 800 block of West Madison Street.

Police say dispatch stated they received an iPhone crash notification near this address.

According to authorities, the caller also stated he “struck a ditch” and was not injured but sounded intoxicated. While responding, police say they were told the caller had struck a house.

Police say upon arrival, they located a vehicle overturned in the backyard. Officers say the home sustained heavy damage as well on both the inside and outside.

Police say they made contact the driver, identified as 27-year-old Austin Parker of Sugar Valley, Georgia.

According to officers, Parker was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be reached from police breaking the passenger side window.

Parker refused treatment on scene and was placed into custody. Police say Parker had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from him.

Parker was transported to The Medical Center at Franklin for treatment of minor injuries.

Upon contact with the occupants of the home, police say both people stated they were inside the house at the time of the collision and that they were very scared.

Parker was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree wanton endangerment.

He remains at the Simpson County Jail.
