Four MCMS students selected for Rogers Explorers Program

EDMONTON, Ky. – Four Metcalfe County Middle School students have been selected for the 2025 Rogers Explorers program.
The district says Maya Gonsalves, Destiny Rhinehart, Miles Sanderson and Blaine Walker will spend three days at a Kentucky college campus cultivating skills in leadership, technology, math, science and community service.
“The MCMS students selected for the Rogers Explorers program represent the very best of our school – demonstrating not only academic excellence but also leadership, curiosity, and a drive for innovation,” said MCMS Principal Jenny Stotts-Lundy. “They are critical thinkers and problem solvers, eager to explore new ideas and make a positive impact in their communities. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and excited to see how they will continue to grow through this outstanding opportunity.”
According to Metcalfe County Schools, Rogers Explorers is developed, coordinated and supervised by The Center for Rural Development in partnership with the University of the Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson College, Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State University, University of Pikeville and Union College.
Students participate in college courses, refine their leadership skills and build a network of friends and resources throughout the southern and eastern Kentucky region.
All lodging, meals and program expenses (except transportation) are provided at no cost.
