2 arrested after wanted man found hiding in trunk, police say

PORTLAND, Tenn. – Two people were arrested after a wanted man was found in a car truck in Portland.
According to a release, the Portland Police Department responded to a License Plate Reader (LPR) alert Sunday. The alert indicated that the driver, Kasey Wilson, had active arrest warrants. Officers observed a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop.
PPD says Cynthia Christmas was driving the vehicle and did not consent to a search.
Officers deployed K9 Mav for a free-air sniff. Mav was alerted to an odor consistent with controlled substances. Officers then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located suspected THC vape pens.
During the search, Christmas told officers that Wilson was hiding inside the trunk.
Christmas and Wilson were both arrested.
Wilson had active warrants in Robertson County for aggravated domestic assault and felony violation of probation. Police say Wilson also had outstanding warrants in two Kentucky counties. Wilson was transported to the Sumner County Jail and is pending a transfer to the Robertson County Jail.
Christmas is charged with accessory after the fact (harboring or concealing a felon) and was lodged at the Sumner County jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
