Bowling Green man found guilty of impersonating a peace officer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man has been found guilty of impersonating a peace officer.
In connection with a case that stems from September 2022, 37-year-old Robert A. Sharp Jr. was found guilty last week, according to Kori Beck Bumgarner, commonwealth’s attorney.
Officials say this follows a three-day trial.
On September 28, 2022, Bowling Green police said they were notified of a man driving a black sedan that had approached two Potter Gray Elementary School students walking home from school and offered them candy.
After the students declined, police say the man showed them a badge and stated he was a police officer.
BGPD said the man told officers he was campaigning in the neighborhood at the time. Police said the man was found not to be a police officer in Bowling Green or in nearby counties.
Sharp remains at the Warren County Regional Jail.
Sentencing for Sharp is scheduled for March 25, 2025 in front of Warren Circuit Judge J.B. Hines.
