Fraternal Order of Eagles hosting food drive during 7 States Conference
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A regional group of veterans is descending on Bowling Green for its annual conference and helping out the Commonwealth at the same time.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles is holding its annual 7 States Conference at the Sloan Convention Center Friday and Saturday, and as part of that, they’re hosting a food drive to benefit the Kentucky Veterans Brigade.
People from Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri and Arkansas are all making their way to Kentucky to take part.
News 40 spoke to staff members representing the state of Indiana, who say they’re honored to give back to those who have served our country so honorably.
“They come back from overseas, and people just kind of forget about them, and some of them are homeless and they’re on their last leg, and any help we can give them, God bless them for what they’ve done for us,” Charlie Riggs, the co-chairman of the 7 States, says.
Everyone we spoke with at the conference reiterated the Eagles’ mantra of “people helping people,” and whether they’ve been there for years or this is their first time helping out, they’re honored to serve those who have served our country in return.
