State police investigate fatal Breathitt Co. crash

CANOE, Ky. – Kentucky State Police Post 13 is investigating a fatal crash in Breathitt County.

KSP says troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday morning at KY-30 West in Canoe.

According to KSP, Jordan Gross, 27 of Canoe, was traveling west on KY-30 West and lost control of his vehicle after hitting black ice.

Gross’ vehicle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle traveling east head-on.

The Breathitt County Coroner’s Office pronounced Gross dead at the scene.

The second vehicle operator was flown to University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment and is in critical condition.

KSP says Gross and the second operator were not wearing seat belts. Toxicology reports are pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
