Bowling Green woman charged with DUI after 2 separate collisions

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman is facing charges after a reported hit-and-run and a secondary collision occurring on the same night.

According to a uniform citation, on Saturday around 8:19 p.m., dispatch received a report of a hit-and-run collision at 301 State St. Authorities say a caller reported his vehicle was struck in the parking lot before the driver fled the scene.

Police say the caller stated the driver had been sitting in her car “with a beer in her hand” prior to the collision, causing minor damage.

Officers say less than 10 minutes later, another collision was reported at Porter Pike and Oak Street.

Authorities say the same vehicle involved in alleged hit-and-run was involved in this collision.

Upon arrival, police identified the driver of the described vehicle as 63-year-old Ruby Reed of Bowling Green.

Authorities say Reed had the odor of alcoholic beverages.

The secondary vehicle that was struck had severe damage, according to police. Officers say the driver and passenger of that vehicle fled the scene. Police say they later determined the passenger was not injured.

While searching Reed’s vehicle, authorities say they located an empty beer bottle. Following a blood draw at an area hospital, Reed was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

She faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security.
