Elizabethtown police warn about fentanyl laced pills after teen death
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The Elizabethtown Police Department issued a statement Wednesday morning warning residents about laced medication in the community.
According to the department, investigators are pursuing leads concerning Percocet 30 tablets that are likely laced with fentanyl.
Officers say they believe these tablets may be linked to a recent fatality.
Police say they responded this morning just before 7 a.m. to a residence, where officers found a 17-year-old male that died from a drug overdose.
Within an hour and a half of the call, police say investigators identified a juvenile male suspected of distributing the narcotics to the victim. By 9:30 a.m., officers say the suspect was located and taken into custody.
The suspect faces charges of first-degree manslaughter, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in marijuana.
Two adults were also arrested, including 18-year-old Damian Felker of Elizabethtown, who was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brandon Durbin, 36, of Elizabethtown, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers are certain that additional tablets remain within the community.
Now, they’re asking that if anyone is in possession of these illicit tablets to surrender the tablets to a trusted adult or law enforcement immediately without fear or punishment.
