New bio-engineer position at Mammoth Cave National Park
MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky.- Mammoth Cave National Park has recently added a new position for a Biological Engineer Technician to help manage the park’s diverse natural resources.
This role focuses on everything from bats and vegetation to the population of endangered species within the park. The new technician will play a vital behind-the-scenes role in maintaining the park’s ecological balance and ensuring the long-term health of the cave system.
Rickard Toomey, Cave Resource Manager at Mammoth Cave National Park, explains that while the position will have a significant impact on the park, visitors may not directly notice its effects.
“This position will impact the visitors, but the visitors really won’t see it, because we have an incredibly large diversity of biological resources on the park,” Toomey said.
The addition of this role will allow for more focused research on the park’s biological systems, supporting efforts to protect and preserve the cave’s unique ecosystem. For those interested in learning more about the requirements for this position at Mammoth Cave, more information is available here.
