Bowling Green man bringing hope to Hurricane Helene victims
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Many in the community remember Kenny Gillock, the local Bowling Green man who drove a school bus to assist those in rural areas affected by Hurricane Helene.
With help and support from: Ron Studdle tax service, Bray Electric, Lisa’s 5th street dinner, and many other volunteers, Gillock has since made three trips to the Appalachian Mountains, making a significant impact on the lives of many families in need.
His efforts don’t stop there; he is now part of a group organizing a Christmas drop for children and families still reeling from the storm’s aftermath.
With the support of the community, Gillock aims to provide some holiday cheer, delivering much-needed gifts and hope.
“It’s changing for the better. But very slow,” he explains, noting that some people are still living in tents. He believes that a little holiday magic can alleviate some pressure for these families, offering kids a sense of normalcy during the festive season.
Ninety-five percent of donations from the first few drops have been given away. If you’d like to support the “Christmas for a Cause” initiative, donations are accepted until Dec. 1. For more details on how to help, contact Jennifer Gray at 518-683-3959 0r Kenny Gillock at 270-303-2766.
