Driving safely during wet road conditions

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – With the remnants of Hurricane Helene passing through the area, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure you are driving safely. Since the the storm has been passing through, we’ve seen heavy rains, winds and localized flooding in certain areas.

Warren County sheriff Brett Hightower says to exercise caution if you do have to travel about Friday and this weekend and to take your time and plan out your route.

“We just ask people, you know, really take your time, preplan your destination, particularly is the sun sets and the visibility even gets more limited. A lot of times, you know, you’ve got the headlight reflection upon the water in the roadway and windshield wipers and lack of visibility from both your side windows. People just need to take your time,” Hightower said.

While we have not experienced widespread damage like some other areas of the region have, Hightower says to never clear debris off a road by yourself. People have been severely injured doing that in the past. Instead, call the Warren County Sheriff’s non-emergency line, and they will be able to take care of the damage in the road ways.
