Juvenile and former student detained at Bowling Green High School
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Bowling Green High School Principal, Kyle McGraw, released a message to families, faculty and staff Wednesday afternoon.
McGraw says that just after noon on Wednesday, a juvenile and former student approached Bowling Green High School under duress and holding a knife. The individual was confronted by a staff member outside of the building where he said that someone was trying to kill him. The staff member convinced him to lay down the knife and ushered him into a secure location, not accessible to students or staff at that time.
According to McGraw, the juvenile was met by a School Resource Officer and quickly became noncompliant as the Officer was attempting to take him into custody. McGraw says the officer was forced to tase him to gain compliance but was unsuccessful.
This occurred while other students were in the Commons of BGHS, and may have been visible through windows to some students and staff.
Additional officers responded and detained the student.
McGraw reiterated, the former student was under duress and was not a threat to students or staff. Bowling Green High School resumed the schedule of the day.
