Free barbecue held for veterans and first responders

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- On Sept. 11, hundreds of veterans and first responders gathered for the annual barbecue held in front of the Veterans Affairs in Bowling Green to remember those we lost and offer a heartfelt tribute to those who sacrifice so much daily.

This event serves as a significant gesture of gratitude from the community. Mary Osborne, a Good Deeds KY volunteer, expressed the honor of serving and thanking these brave individuals for their immense sacrifices.

“It’s a huge service,” Osborne said, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and appreciating their contributions.

Service events like this don’t only impact the veterans and first responders but also inspire others who witness the acts of kindness.

Glenda Moss, vice regent of S.A.R., highlighted how such events set an example for younger generations.

“It opens the door for the young people and teaches them to give back to their communities,” Moss noted.

This annual barbecue is just one of the many ways the community can express its gratitude to those who dedicate their lives to serving others.
