Lewisburg man leads police on high-speed pursuit, swims across lake to avoid capture

TODD COUNTY – A Lewisburg man is facing charges following a high-speed pursuit in Todd County.

According to a report by WEKT, Kentucky State Police attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Kentucky 181 near the Muhlenberg County line on Wednesday.

KSP says the motor vehicle operator did not stop.

The report says the Todd County Sheriff’s Office deployed a tire deflation device at the intersection of Kentucky 181 and US 68.

The operator of the vehicle continued traveling for two miles before turning into a road leading to a rock quarry near Tress Shop Road.

Law enforcement says the man, Lee Moore, exited the vehicle and ran toward a lake, swam across it, and attempted to scale a vertical rock that was approximately 50 feet high. Moore was unable to climb the rock.

The report says Todd County Emergency Management assisted at the scene by providing a boat and life jackets to assist officers.

The vehicle driven by Moore was allegedly reported stolen in Todd County

Moore was arrested and charged with speeding, DUI third offense, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, third-degree criminal trespassing, and several traffic violations.
