Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board hosts forum
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Thursday, the Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board hosted a forum to discuss how to improve the foster care system in the Commonwealth.
Topics discussed include making sure those who have lived through foster care are involved with organizations that help foster children, what barriers they encounter and some possible solutions.
One clinical associate in the system from Warren County took part, and says how important things like these are in improving the system for everyone.
“I think… just hearing from others who have gone through the system… their experiences… whether positive, whether negative… and how to navigate through the court systems… how to be involved in case planning conferences… how to advocate further on the rights… those things are definitely needed,” Angela Lane, representing the Two Rivers Region which includes Warren County, says.
Citizen Foster Care Review Board chair Steve Farr says the purpose is for the public to discuss areas of concern, and he thought it was a great forum with a lot of insight into the system from those who work in it daily.
