Sobieski signs with WKU Tennis

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women’s Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis announced the signing of Elizabeth Sobieski on Friday.
Sobieski joins the Lady Toppers as a transfer from Valparaiso.
“I think Elizabeth has just scratched the surface on her potential,” Davis said. “I feel her work ethic on and off the court, as well as her results, will blend in well with the culture we have created at WKU Tennis.”
Sobieski, a junior from Muskego, Wisconsin, spent the last two seasons at Valparaiso. She received numerous honors while with the Beacons. She was the 2022-23 team’s Valpo Award winner, and was named to the 2023-24 MVC Scholar-Athlete Second Team, received the 2023-24 Team Academic Award, and was named 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District.
In 2023-24, Sobieski went 17-11 in singles and picked up 11 doubles wins. She posted 12 wins in dual matches, including four wins in conference play, after starting the season with eight straight singles victories. She claimed the Flight 5 Singles title at the Illinois State Invite on Oct. 1. During her freshman season in 2022-23, she went 9-4 overall in singles and 7-1 in dual matches, while also picking up eight doubles victories.
While at Muskego High School, Sobieski claimed the 2020 Wisconsin girls singles state title and was a part of the 2020 Wisconsin girls team state championship winners. Her team was the state runner-up the year prior.
Sobieski is the second signing WKU Women’s Tennis has announced this offseason. The Lady Toppers announced the addition of Marshall transfer Emily Schut on Wednesday. The two join returners Sofia Blanco, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova, and Mariana Zegada on the 2024-25 roster.
The Lady Toppers are coming off a 14-11 season in 2024, which tied for fourth-most wins in a single season in program history. WKU is in its winningest three-year stretch in program history, with 47 wins coming during that period.
