Movie loosely based on stories of Pauline Tabor shown at Capitol Theater
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Capitol Theater played host to a unique movie screening related to a legend of Bowling Green.
With Dolly Parton playing a huge part in Duncan Hines Days the last couple of years, it’s only right to show a movie that not only stars the icon, but is also loosely based on a figure from Bowling Green’s history.
The movie, which also features Burt Reynolds, is based on Pauline Tabor, who is part of this year’s celebration.
On top of this movie, her book was up for sale, in an exclusive velvet cover.
One attendee shared her personal experiences with the legend surrounding Miss Pauline.
“At one time I did read a book about her. I can’t remember it right now but my friend said she bought the book and I said, ‘Now take notes. I want to know everything I need to know.’ I know when they sold the bricks from Pauline’s house, my dad brought one home and my mother threw it away,” Carol Spinks says.
There’s a special Pauline Tabor related tour taking place Thursday night in downtown Bowling Green.
If you’re wondering, Carol says the brick wasn’t even from Pauline’s house to begin with. Her father made the story up.
She did say even though the stories surrounding Miss Pauline are a bit taboo, they’re an important part of Bowling Green’s history.
