BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Crews continue to work on restoring power into Tuesday after storms hit Kentucky this past weekend.

Severe weather struck multiple counties on Sunday, causing thousands to lose power. Electric utility companies have been working day and night to restore power after wind, flooding and tornadoes in some areas caused extensive damage.

As of this morning at 8 a.m., Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation says crews worked overnight to have outage numbers down to 1,500. Yesterday, the company said full restoration could take at least until Friday.

The company serves 11 counties, including Barren, Hart, Metcalfe, Edmonson and Warren counties, which all currently have outages.

Farmers RECC says it understands frustration during this time, but they will continue to work until power is restored.

The company says damage to its system is causing restoration times to take longer, and it can take time to identify these issues and find the cause of an outage.

They ask that you wait for them to repair damage to your weatherhead/service connection. You can learn more here.

Farmers RECC also says meters will reset to their actual reading once power is restored.

Meanwhile,  as of 8 a.m., Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation says it is down to 3,400 members without power. It continues to work on 213 outages and 97 broken poles. The company continues to ask for patience during this time as it works around the clock.

Pennyrile Electric says as of 8 a.m., 16,698 members remain without power, and more than 400 people in the field working in its service area.
