BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Fire Department is for the first time actively recruiting people already working as firefighters, also called lateral transfers.

Applicants currently employed as a full-time firefighter with another department who have at least two consecutive years of full-time, paid firefighter experience are encouraged to apply for the lateral transfer program.

Applicants must hold the following certifications: IFSAC Firefighter I, IFSAC Firefighter II, IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness, IFSAC Hazardous Materials Operations, NREMT Basic and/or ability to reciprocate with Kentucky Board of EMS for EMT Basic certification.

The City of Bowling Green says it offers a competitive salary of $55,836 annually, plus $4,300 yearly incentive pay, an accelerated in-house training academy and a 24/48 working schedule.

In addition to lateral transfer candidates, the department is also currently recruiting for new firefighters.
