Axon Roadshow takes the Glasgow Police Department to a whole new technological level

GLASGOW, KY.- Decades ago law enforcement agencies could not imagine using technology and resources that are connected to protecting the lives of law enforcement officers.

Steve Tuttle, the principal of taser energy weapons and one of five founders of Axon shares how the company Axon creates the latest technology shown all over the world, and it also helps officers safely arrest criminals.

Steve says, “Everything before us was beating somebody in submission. K9 beanbag rounds, kicks and punches and that’s a pretty brutal way of doing business. But that’s the tools I had at the time.”

Axon travels all over the world to share the latest public safety technology and training. The Glasgow Police Department is ready to get in on the action.

The Glasgow Police Department Chief, Guy Howie, says, “We can’t keep doing things the same way we used to do. You know, you look back into the 70s and you see a policeman with a nightstick or a slapjack. In today’s society, you don’t see nightsticks and slapjacks anymore because of technology.”

Steve shares his own experience and how this new technology not only affects officers. It will also change the lives of citizens within the community.

He says, “I got mugged three times back in the late 80s on Capitol Hill with a gun to my head three different times. And that really was a poignant thing to have happened to me, to say the least, so that when I got into this business, protecting consumers, protecting the police became just as important to me. We revolutionized law enforcement many moons ago, back in 1999 with our breakthrough product. We could stop you from doing threatening behavior, not just causing pain compliance, but literally incapacitating a subject safely.”

The change Axon created for everyone began with a group of people with different backgrounds, ready to make a change. Starting with a taser and over time, it has advanced to drones body cameras and so much more that will keep people safe and hold all law enforcement agencies accountable.

Chief Howie says, this advanced technology is just the beginning for the Glasgow Police Department and the Glasgow community. He says, “We’re going to give them more professional law enforcement, with the technology that supports them and helps with any litigation. And it shows both sides of the story, and it’s cutting edge.
