Highway safety officials warn drivers not to stop along the interstate during eclipse

If you are traveling Monday to view the solar eclipse, highway officials are advising drivers how to make the trip safely to their destination.
The Federal Highway Administration shared advice on social media, including exiting the roadway to a safe location to watch or photograph the solar eclipse.
Drivers are also advised to avoid travel during the eclipse or in the area of the main path if possible.
In addition, officials ask travelers not to stop along the interstate or park on the shoulder for the event. Motorists should also turn their headlights on, avoid wearing opaque eclipse glasses while driving a vehicle, avoid taking photographs while driving and watch for pedestrians.
Drivers should also be prepared for additional traffic.
