Village Manor works to Nurture our Nurses
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Nurses got a well-deserved break and a small thank you for their essential work and service. Nurses were nurtured for their endless care and service for those in their most vulnerable moments, in a day filled with rest for nurses all over South Central Kentucky.
Chris Minnich, the executive director of Village Manor shares the value of nurses and how essential they are, and he says, “Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system. They’re overworked. They’re working short. And this is an opportunity just to say thank you to all nurses in the community by coming on out and having a day of relaxation.”
This ‘thank you’ is making a massive difference and gives nurses who make sacrifices the chance to take a small break. The director of nurses at Village Manor, Donna Howard says “Our nurses really are heroes. I’m a nurse and have been a nurse for 28 years, and I’ve been here for 18 and I’ve seen a lot of different things, but nurses are so important. They take care of people at their most vulnerable.”
From massages to manicures and even vitamin B-12 shots. Village Manor is taking this day to honor and nurture our nurses in the community by letting them relax and pamper themselves. Donna also says, “It just makes them feel like they are special and have no strings attached. You know, it’s for our community nurses or any nurse that you know is around. We can’t wait to see what next year looks like.”
Minnich says this has been a joy and it helps them know they are truly valued and appreciated, and he says, “They have been very surprised. They can’t believe you all are doing this, and being that this is our first event, I can’t wait to see what next year is like.”
