Man dead after incident at Barren River

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is dead after being pulled from the water at Barren River, police said Saturday.

Bowling Green Police Department public information officer Ronnie Ward says the agency conducted a death investigation at the scene.

Ward confirmed the man was attempting to load his boat when it slipped away. He says the man tried to retrieve it but could not.

Police say bystanders pulled the man from the water and summoned for help.

The identity of the man has not been released, however, police say he was 59 years old.
