Hope House Ministries expanding addiction recovery program for women
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hope House Ministries is working to improve lives by expanding its existing Program Living for Women.
Nine years ago, Hope House began an addiction recovery program for men. Two years ago, it expanded that treatment and care for women.
In the program, women can take part in four phases to tackle alcohol and drug addiction at a 24-bed facility. These include classes for GED, DUI and biblical classes, among others. It includes six months of intense programming, counseling and classes. The next six months implement those tools to get back to a sense of normal life.
During this time, organizers say Program Living for Women will be there alongside them.
Now, the group is reaching a new milestone as it nears its first phase of apartment construction. These transitional homes will provide a place for women to live upon completion of the 12-month recovery program.
“This space would also provide them an environment for their kids to live with them in one of these apartments that would allow them to be in a safe, stable, affordable living environment,” says Justin Crowe, the senior Program Living director.
Crowe says they have seen an increased need for the services they provide.
Brian Lewis, president and CEO of Hope House Ministries, explained the future of their construction project in further detail.
He says Hope House has already secured funding for the first six apartments, with the goal to gather enough funding to construct 14 total. It’s working to reach its next two phases, which include a new ministry center for phase two and 24 tiny homes for phase three.
The group will celebrate its next step to aiding recovery and the anniversary of the program at a groundbreaking for these apartments.
The public is invited to take part on March 14 at 11 a.m. at 461 Glen Lily Road.
