Kentucky’s new agriculture commissioner visits Bowling Green

WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- The newly elected agriculture commissioner, Jonathan Shell, made a stop in Warren County Thursday for the Kentucky Commodity Conference, where hundreds of people gathered to become more educated on the topic of marketing agriculture.

Shell was extremely excited to be in town today and present the Friend of Raising Hope Award to Ann Mead.

He also felt honored to unite many agriculture workers across the entire state of Kentucky.

He says, “Warren County and the surrounding area is a big contributor to the economy here in Kentucky, and this is something where we’re working on educating farmers with marketing trends that are happening, and it’s really just kind of a family reunion for agriculture space. On the Roker upside.”

Shell says he’s no stranger to the extreme cold. He also shared he is experiencing similar to what south central Kentucky farmers are dealing with this week. Shell told today’s audience that his father and fellow farm workers would take turns sleeping in the greenhouse when winter weather hit.
