Scarecrow Trail returns to Lost River Cave

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For the eighth consecutive year, Lost River Cave is lining its nature trails with scarecrows.

From Sept. 28 through Oct. 31, visitors can visit the annual Scarecrow Trail which features 64 scarecrows designed by local businesses and non-profit organizations.

With each passing year, the amount of scarecrows and businesses involved with the event has grown.

The scarecrows vary in theme from movie-related, Halloween and designs that relate back to the businesses and what they stand for.

A panel of judges from the Lost River Cave board will vote on their favorite scarecrows, and guests will also have a chance to cast a vote for their most well-liked design in the gift shop.

The winning organizations will receive tickets for Lost River Cave’s boat tours as well as apparel from the gift shop.

Year after year, the Scarecrow Trail has given community organizations a fun reason to come together and celebrate the start of Fall.

“Our community here in Bowling Green is expecting it every year now which is awesome for us because we had thousands of people that walked the trails last year,” said Shelby Blythe, who helps organize the yearly event for Lost River Cave. “It’s bringing more awareness back to Lost River Cave. People just knowing that we’re here in the community. It’s a great family event and it’s great marketing for any business or non-profit.”

The trail is free to walk.
