CAVE CITY, Ky. – Farmers RECC held its annual meeting Thursday at the Cave Area Conference Center.

Community members gathered to hear financial and business updates from the past year, learn about the cooperative’s plans for the future, and take part in an election to fill one of the company’s seven board seats.

Organizers say the annual meeting gives members a chance to stay informed, have their voices heard, and play a role in the cooperative’s future.

“ As a cooperative, we’re member-owned, so it’s vital to us and important to us that our members know what it is that we’re up to. Everything we do is spending their money and so it’s, it’s important for us to be transparent about that and reflect to them that we’re being responsible, with their money,” said current Farmers RECC CEO Toby Moss. “We make sure that they get their electricity the way they’re supposed to.”

With Moss retiring in mid-July, the meeting introduced the cooperative’s next CEO, Chuck Bishop.

”Obviously I have a lot to learn. I’ve never been in to this particular type of role,” Bishop said. “Fortunately, through the years I’ve had several managers that have been good role models for me, and I’ve gathered things through the years that will be beneficial in my tenure. I just hope to do a good job leading the cooperative into the future.”
