Warren County man arrested after allegedly fleeing Logan County law enforcement

AUBURN, Ky. – A Warren County man is accused of fleeing police while under the influence.

According to a release, a Logan County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed an SUV fail to stop at a stop sign while traveling on US 68 East just before Cave Springs Road. The deputy attempted a traffic stop but the SUV failed to stop and continued north on Cave Springs Road.

The deputy says the vehicle was traveling in and out of both the northbound and southbound lanes at a high rate of speed toward Felts Cemetery. The operator turned the SUV around, attempted to return to US 68 East, then stopped at River Road and Felts Cemetery Road. The deputy said the operator attempted to back out of the stop and struck the sheriff’s patrol vehicle.

The deputy made contact with the suspect, 32-year-old Zackary Threlkel, of Woodburn. During the investigation, the deputy observed alcoholic beverage containers and a white straw with suspected drug residue inside of it, according to the release.

Threlkel was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.

Threlkel is charged with:

  • Speeding 26 Mph or > Speed Limit
  • Assault, 2nd Degree – Police Officer
  • Driving Too Fast for Traffic Conditions
  • Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
  • Improperly on Left Side of Road
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle U/infl Alc/subs (189a.010(1e) – 2nd (Agg Cir)
  • Disregarding Stop Sign
  • One Headlight
  • Reckless Driving
  • Wanton Endangerment – 1st Degree – Police Officer
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified)
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/possess
  • Possession of Marijuana

The investigation is ongoing.
