Alabama woman who went missing after contacting 911 returns home

HOOVER, Ala. – Police say an Alabama woman, who went missing after calling 911, has returned home.
The Hoover Police Department says the Hoover 911 center received a call around 10:45 p.m. Saturday night that 25-year-old Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell returned to her residence.
Police say they responded to the scene to investigate the latest update to the case.
Russell received assessment from medics before she was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
The details surrounding how Russell returned or what caused her disappearance are not yet released by police.
Hoover police say Russell went missing Thursday after she called the Hoover 911 center while on Interstate 459 South in Alabama to report she had seen a toddler walking along the interstate.
After calling 911, police say Russell stopped to check on the child and contacted a family member to report the situation. Although police say Russell’s family lost contact with her at this moment, the line remained open.
Upon arrival, police say they located Russell’s vehicle and some of her belongings at the scene. Police say they did not find Russell or the child when responding to the call.
Hoover police say they did not receive any other reports of a missing small child.
During a press conference Friday, Hoover police said Russell left work around 8:20 p.m. Thursday and is believed to have stopped to pick up food before driving toward Hoover, Alabama on the interstate. Police also say one witness reported possibly seeing a gray vehicle with a male standing outside of Russell’s vehicle.
Police say additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
