Police release additional details in officer-involved shooting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green police released further details Friday afternoon surrounding an officer-involved shooting.
In a post shared to social media, Bowling Green police chief Michael Delaney confirms a Bowling Green Police Department officer was shot multiple times and was flown to a trauma center.
Delaney has also confirmed officer Matt Davis is the injured officer. He says Davis is in critical but stable condition as of around 2:20 p.m. Friday.

“We feel the support of the community, and on behalf of the Bowling Green Police Department, we want to thank you for always supporting us. We appreciate the outpouring of prayers, thoughts comments, calls and everything that’s been brought to the station to uplift these officers in this time of need. Our officers will continue to serve this great community. We will keep you updated on officer Davis’ progress.”
Delaney said as part of policy, the Kentucky State Police investigates any critical instant involving Bowling Green police officers.
Delaney said because of this, he will not release any further information regarding this investigation.
“Thank you, and continue to support and pray for officer Davis,” Delaney said.
The officer-involved shooting took place Thursday, July 6 near the America’s Car-Mart off of Russellville Road. Around 10:45 p.m. Thursday night, KSP confirmed in a release that one male subject died at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The identity of the male who has died is not released at this time.
The Kentucky State Police is continuing the investigation.
