NBC Universal executive named Twitter CEO

(CNN) – As promised, Elon Musk is stepping down as CEO of Twitter.

He announced Friday he has hired longtime media executive Linda Yaccarino for the job.

She’s leaving NBC Universal, where she served as chairman of global advertising and partnerships for 11 years.

In that past, Musk has clashed with mainstream media outlets and said he hates advertising.

Musk says Yaccarino is slated to start the job in six weeks.

In his announcement, Musk said he will focus primarily on business operations while he focuses on product design and new technology.
