1 dead, child injured after collision in Logan County

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Police say a man is dead and a small child has been hospitalized after a collision in Logan County.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday, March 4 around 11:32 a.m. for a two-vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Hopkinsville Road and Stevenson Chapel Road.
Police say Charles M. Parker was operating a Kubota RTV utility vehicle on Stevenson Chapel Road. While Parker tried to cross Hopkinsville Road, police say he traveled into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban traveling westbound on Hopkinsville Road.
Both vehicles overturned after impact, and Parker, along with a 4-year-old, were ejected from the RTV as a result of the collision, according to police.
Parker, 73, of Russellville was pronounced dead at the scene. The 4-year-old passenger was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban was not injured in the collision, police say.
The investigation is ongoing.
