Beshear signs emergency regulations for funds from opioid company settlements

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear is taking steps to hold pharmacy companies responsible for the state’s opioid epidemic.
Today, Beshear signed two emergency regulations to get settlement dollars to help communities heal and to support law enforcement to end what he calls an opioid epidemic.
In 2021, 2,250 people in Kentucky died of a drug overdose. Beshear said he believes opioid companies play a role in those deaths.
One reason I ran for Attorney General was to hold opioid companies responsible for the devastation they caused Kentuckians. These companies put their bottom lines over the lives of our people, and I held them responsible by suing more of them than any other AG in the country. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/Q3Xb5cFBaj
