Beshear presents funds for pedestrian safety in Park City, Glasgow

PARK CITY, Ky. – Both Park City and Glasgow are set to get some much-needed upgrades.
Gov. Andy Beshear was in Park City Thursday, awarding funding for both communities.
Park City is receiving $179,094 for sidewalk improvements, and Glasgow is gaining $22,128 for the Beaver Creek Park.
Park City’s new funds will add a crosswalk at the intersection of Blakeman Street and Bardstown Road. It will also complete an existing loop of a five-foot sidewalk that will provide connectivity to several locations.
The funding for Beaver Creek Park will allow the trail to be widened from four feet to 12 feet, giving extra space for cyclists and vehicles.
Beshear said infrastructure improvements are a state-wide priority. These newly awarded funds will help to improve economic growth, tourism and safety in both cities.
“I know here in Park City, they are really excited to get started, ” said Beshear. “To have sidewalks that run from Mammoth Cave to here, and I’m sure in Glasgow they’re going to do it as fast as they can.”
