COLUMBIA, Ky. – Multiple people are behind bars after police say four children were allegedly being locked in a room in Adair County.

According to the Columbia Police Department, officers were dispatched to a complaint of a possible child abuse and neglect case on Wednesday around 11:46 a.m. at a Columbia residence.

Upon arrival, police say they made contact with the grandparents, a parent, children and other family members at the residence.

All three were transported to the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of second-degree criminal abuse – child 12 or under.
