GLASGOW, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars after allegedly fleeing police in Glasgow on Friday.

According to a uniform citation, the Glasgow Police Department responded Friday evening to West Main Street regarding a reckless driving complaint.

Police say a Barren County deputy stated a vehicle was reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour on the parkway and was unable to maintain its lane.

Upon spotting the vehicle, police say they attempted a traffic stop, however, the vehicle continued traveling. Authorities say it continued going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

According to police, the vehicle turned onto Indian Hills Drive and began to slow but still failed to stop.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Ricardo Montelongo of Bowling Green, then pulled over at a nearby residence and was detained, authorities say.

Authorities say Montelongo stated he did not know how fast he was traveling due to getting new tires, stating that “100 mph feels like 40 mph.”

In addition, police say the vehicle’s windshield was cracked, and the back bumper had fallen off, taking the registration plate with it.

Montelongo was arrested and faces charges of reckless driving, no registration plates, improper equipment, first-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle.)

He was incarcerated at the Barren County Detention Center but has since been released, according to jail records.
