Gatton Academy holds National STEM Scholar Program event
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Ten teachers from eight states are celebrating their entry into the National STEM Scholar Program, but the achievement does not end with them.
Today’s ceremony at Gatton Academy on the WKU campus recognized the influential middle school STEM teachers for their ability to not only reach students in classrooms today but also years into the future.
The program is a unique professional development initiative providing STEM training, national network building and project support for middle school science teachers nationwide.
Paula Grisanti, CEO of the National STEM Cell Foundation said, “The latest data from the U.S federal government says that we are going to be two million people short of the U.S. STEM educated graduates we need in the U.S. to fill existing jobs in the next couple of years. That’s a big problem the United States has, and we decided we need to be part of the solution.”
The ten teachers chosen for the scholar program will spend a week here in Bowling Green participating in advanced STEM training.
