Update: Deputy identified in fatal officer-involved shooting in Marshall County

BENTON, Ky. – The deputy who was pronounced dead following Monday’s officer-involved shooting has been identified as Calloway County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jody Cash, according to KSP. Cash was a KSP trooper from 2011 until 2018 when he retired at the rank of sergeant.
BENTON, Ky. – A deputy and one other person are dead following an officer-involved shooting that took place Monday in Marshall County.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Monday, May 16 around 2:10 p.m., according to KSP.
Police stated a person was transported to the hospital and has since been pronounced dead. A Calloway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot on scene and transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Gov. Andy Beshear commented on the tragedy, stating, “Britainy and I ask Kentuckians to join us in holding the family and loved ones of the Calloway County deputy in their prayers. This deputy has paid the ultimate sacrifice today while serving our commonwealth. Let us honor the life, bravery and service of this deputy.”
