Woman charged with DUI after allegedly reaching nearly 100 mph on I-65

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – One woman is behind bars after allegedly driving recklessly while under the influence in Hart County.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police measured a vehicle traveling 98 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 65 around 11:05 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities say the vehicle was failing to stay in its lane and did not yield when law enforcement attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle then cut off other vehicles while attempting to pull over, according to authorities.

The driver was identified as 40-year-old Amanda Page of Hardyville.

Authorities say Page had a gun located near her in the vehicle.

Troopers say they requested her to hand the gun over, however, she placed it on the floorboard before handing it over.

Authorities say Page showed signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine and later admitted to smoking it that day.

She was asked to exit the vehicle and found to possess a plastic bag of methamphetamine, according to the citation.

Page was arrested and transported to Caverna Memorial Hospital before being taken to the Hart County Jail.

She faces charges of speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, failure to give right of way to emergency stopped vehicle, driving on a DUI suspended license, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, second offense, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, resisting arrest and tampering with physical evidence.
