WKU celebrates Black History Month with artist talk

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- To celebrate Black History Month, Western Kentucky University held its Black History Month artist talk Wednesday.

Student art is displayed under the theme of different shades of identity and reflection.

The artists of each portrait made an appearance to explain what inspired them to create the works of art.

WKU freshman Kennedie Nelson created a work that is on display. She said it was a great way to celebrate her heritage.

“I think that it really does celebrate Black History Month because we are all African American, and it just shows the fellowship of the black community,” Nelson said.

The art is on display in room 2041 in the Downing Student Union and is open to the public and available to view for the rest of the month.
