What you can expect from Duncan Hines Days this year

BOWLING GREEN, Ky – From pickles and cake mix to rubber ducks and even Dolly Parton, the Duncan Hines Days Festival has entertained south-central Kentucky for years with a wide variety of activities and events.

Festival favorites such as the Community Bike Ride, Pickleball Palooza, Duck Paddle Race and Regatta, and the Eats and Beats Music Festival continue drawing visitors from across the country in celebration of Bowling Green native Duncan Hines.

Downtown Development Coordinator, Telia Butler, says the festival has become a unique identity for Bowling Green.

“In Louisville, Derby Festival is something everyone associates with the city. Owensboro has barbecue,” Butler said. “Bowling Green has Corvettes, Mammoth Cave and WKU, but Duncan Hines has become something that brings everyone together under one umbrella.”

This year’s festival will feature returning fan favorites along with new events tied to America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

One of the additions includes a program at Aviation Heritage Park highlighting the “Donut Dollies,” volunteers known for comforting troops during wartime with snacks and conversation.

Butler says Duncan Hines represented many of the traditions that continue to resonate with families today.

“There’s nothing more Americana than a good old-fashioned family road trip and a great meal in your backyard,” Butler said. “Duncan stood for both of those things.”
