‘We’re getting soft’: Gov. Bevin criticizes cold weather school closings

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin is facing criticism after comments he made regarding state school districts closing due to frigid temperatures.

Bevin later said that he was being “slightly facetious,” but added he believes the closures set a bad precedent for youth.

Bevin faced heavy criticism on social media, including Republican gubernatorial challenger Robert Goforth taking a shot at Bevin’s private school education.

Others chimed in as well, including the Kentucky Education Association, who said they stand by their students.
