Warren RECC asks members to conserve energy

Company says electric system strain could affect future reliability

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Warren RECC is asking its members to reduce their electricity usage as much as possible until further notice.

The company encourages people to conserve energy between 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

They say the unusually hot temperatures are demanding on their electric systems and could affect reliability in the future.

Warren RECC says that even if you can’t make big changes, delaying using stovetops, ovens and dryers during that afternoon time can make a difference.

Senior director of communications and public relations Kim Phelps said, “It’s really important that we do everything that we can…. I’m not expecting outages, but I really think that if we could all just pull together and just do our part to take a little bit of the strain off the grid, every little bit counts.”

Phelps also says closing windows and turning your thermostat up one even degree can support their electric system and lower your monthly bill.
