Warren County volunteer fire departments receive PPE grant
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Congressman Brett Guthrie announced a grant to help local firefighters in Warren County purchase personal protective equipment.
The grant comes from the CARES Act and will award local fire departments over $24,000.
The Alvaton, Browning, Plano and Woodburn Volunteer Fire Departments will split the funding equaling about $6000 for PPE for each department.
According to Guthrie, firefighters put their lives on the line and face not only the hazards of those emergencies but also the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
Kevin Bailey is thrilled to receive the funding to replenish their PPE and to help pay them back for the extra PPE acquired so far.
According to Bailey, funding for volunteer fire departments tends to be scarce, so these small grants make a big difference for local departments.
